

Human Trafficking - Grand Jury - Week of May 23, 2016
We concluded a grand jury term this week with presentation of a lengthy investigation into human trafficking in our area. The investigation was headed by the Attorney General's Office and included many hard-working, dedicated local law enforcement investigators. Capital Murder Guilty Plea - Week of May 2nd, 2016
On Thursday, May 4th, Mark Montgomery entered a guilty plea to capital murder for killing Clo Stoner and JoAnna Strickland Butler in March 2014. He will be sentenced to Life Without Parole by Judge Mike Jones at a formal sentencing hearing on June 30th. His plea comes on the eve of what was to be a lengthy capital murder jury trial, which was set to begin on Monday, May 16th. His attorneys approached our office on Monday, May 2nd and made the offer for him to plead as charged


Administrative Assistants Day - Week of April 25, 2016
We have a great team of administrative assistants in our office! They make the office "go." In the past year, they have been asked to do more with less as we have weathered State budget cuts. On Friday, April 29th, we converted the Grand Jury room into a painting studio, and our staff received painting instructions as they each created their own masterpiece.
