Alabama Coalition Against Rape - Week of June 1, 2015

On Friday, June 5th, we hosted a meeting of an ACAR (Alabama Coalition Against Rape) Advisory Committee at One Place of the Shoals. I serve on the committee, which is studying sexual assault laws in our State and recommending updates and changes to existing laws. The committee has been meeting in Montgomery at the One Place Family Justice Center.

I invited the committee to come to Florence to meet so that they could tour One Place of the Shoals Family Justice Center. Committee members include prosecutors from Mobile and Jefferson County, as well as other stakeholders. Mobile and Jefferson Counties are both interested in establishing family justice centers. We are supportive of their efforts and look forward to continuing to work with them to make this happen throughout the State.
