The New Year – Jan 2019

We have welcomed the new year full of optimism!

During the first week of the year, Veterans Court was launched in our circuit. We are excited about this court which focuses on the needs of veterans who are facing criminal charges in our courts. The initial session of this court was held on January 7th with Judge Will Powell presiding.

We also welcomed the new year with a new assistant district attorney. Retired Circuit Court Judge Mike Jones was sworn in as special part-time assistant district attorney this month. Mike brings a wealth of experience with him as he started his career in the DA’s office many years ago, and then served for 18 years as a circuit court judge. He will work on specially assigned cases in our office.
